Gainesville Regional Utilities
In Ohio, $6.3 million was awarded to several entities, including another $50,000 to Struthers for its Reimagining Struthers proposal to study the potential of the city as a green manufacturing ecosystem. From April 2016 to March 2019, Regional Utilities Water System complied with health-based drinking water standards. Manganese is a naturally occurring element that is common in food and drinking water.
These interviews were centered in two markets where our client provides utilities. We’ve created a personal experience through social media that engenders confidence in the GRU team. Shands Cancer Center has a goal of obtaining Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold Certification for the hospital.
The three-floor, 40,500-square-foot GRU Energy Center was designed and built to provide a nominal 4.3 MW of power, 30,000 pounds/hour of steam and 4,200 tons of chilled water capacity to the cancer hospital. The combustion turbine exhaust is ducted through a heat recovery steam generator that produces14,500 pounds/hour of steam without supplemental firing. The HRSG has duct burners that will be able to provide up to 30,000 pounds/hour of steam at a nominal 98 percent thermal efficiency. In 1993 the municipally owned utility serving Gainesville, Florida was threatening to build a 23-mile rail spur to connect its coal-fired power plant with the tracks of the Norfolk/Southern Railway. CSXT had responded to the utility’s threat to build the spur by reducing its proposed rate increase and the utility now had to decide whether it should proceed with the spur or accept the new CSXT offer.
This case may be used to discuss barriers to entry, market power, and appropriate public policy responses. JNRU is a regional sewer district that provides sewer services to CSL. In 1999, JNRU undertook a construction project to increase the capacity of its waste water treatment facility, improve its lift station, and extend its collection lines to serve other parts of its service area. It referred to this project as “Phase I” and planned to add new customers because of this improvement.
The group of five haloacetic acids regulated by federal standards includes monochloroacetic acid, dichloroacetic acid, trichloroacetic acid, monobromoacetic acid and dibromoacetic acid. The EPA has not set a new tap water standard in almost 20 years, and some standards are more than 40 years old. The best way to ensure clean tap water is to keep pollution out of source water in the first place.
Bielarski said increasing GRU bills are “the new normal” because of all the renewable energy the city uses. Thanks to the biomass plant and solar panels, he said, GRU uses 34% renewable energy — far more than the state average of 3% for municipally-owned utilities. Companies who provide utilities—such as gas, electricity, and water—often face unique challenges. As they’re often the only choice for a given utility in a market, they are commonly seen as little more than commodity service providers, limiting consumers’ expectations and, sometimes, lowering the amount of perceived trust. We created a clear path for customers to pay bills, report outages, and manage their services in an effort to make interacting with the site a pleasurable experience. To grow GRU’s social media following and reputation, PHOS would create Facebook ads micro-targeting audience groups with a tone that demonstrated empathy and support for customer concerns.
